Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange would not be a part of ‘Avengers’ movies until 2027, including the much-awaited Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom will be introduced in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ which will be released in May 2026. The unintentional spoiler has not yet been confirmed by the producers, yet the sorrow prevails among the fans.
In an interview with Variety, Cumberbatch revealed his absence, and he won’t be facing off against Downey in Doomsday. Well, at least he blurred it out because he asked, “Is that a spoiler?” (Tom Holland would be proud of this mishap.)
Initially, Kang the Conqueror was supposed to be the ultimate villain in the Avengers saga due to his power and actions all around the multiverse, however, Jonathan Majors, who played the character was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and hence, the character was dismissed by the producers.
Last year during Comic-Con, when Marvel announced Downey’s character, the response received on various social media platforms was insanely fantastic, leaving even Benedict Cumberbatch stuttering. The duty of being ‘the ultimate villain’ now falls on Doctor Doom as many fans revelled this information.
Concurrently, Cumberbatch’s character has nothing to do with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, as the characters do not align themselves. He might not be part of this particular film, but he confirmed that he has his hands in the movie releasing in 2027, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, and plays a pivotal role that helps in turning the screws in the film.
Additionally, the ‘Sherlock’ actor disclosed the possibilities of the third installment of Doctor Strange’s film. The producers have been ‘collaborative’ and gave him enough liberty of what he expects in the writing and directing of the film. He didn’t reveal any such spoilers, however, the actor expressed that he adores playing such a complex and contradictory character.
