Suresh Mukund and his dance crew, The Kings, have earned global recognition by representing India on various prestigious stages. Recently, the dancer-choreographer achieved another milestone, becoming the first Indian artist to choreograph a concert in the United States. Suresh designed the performances for American rapper 50 Cent’s shows in Los Angeles, an experience he described as a major accomplishment, especially considering his roots. Reflecting on the opportunity, he shared with Hindustan Times that, as a teenager, he would listen to 50 Cent’s hits like “Candy Shop” and perform to them, never imagining that two decades later, he would have the chance to choreograph for the rapper. For Suresh, working with 50 Cent was like a dream come true.

Suresh first met the rapper in 2023, after 50 Cent had watched one of his videos and asked his choreographer to reach out to Suresh for a performance at his Mumbai concert. Following that encounter, 50 Cent promised they would collaborate on a bigger project in the future. When the two reunited for the Los Angeles shows, Suresh recalls that they were given a song to choreograph. On the second or third day, 50 Cent arrived at rehearsal, and as soon as he saw the dancers performing, he started recording them on his phone, visibly impressed. Despite the routine initially being removed from the concert’s final lineup, 50 Cent insisted that the performance be included, a decision that filled Suresh with pride.
This opportunity has sparked new aspirations for Suresh, particularly in Hollywood. He revealed that this experience has reignited his passion and provided him with the motivation to pursue more international work. He hopes to collaborate with artists like Chris Brown and The Weeknd in the future, especially in choreographing their concerts. Although he has made significant strides in his career, Suresh noted that he has not received similar opportunities within India, particularly in Bollywood. Despite his extensive body of work, he has never been asked to choreograph for Bollywood artists, and he feels that international recognition has been more forthcoming. As a result, he is now focused on building a career in Los Angeles, where he believes his work will be appreciated more.
