Saif Ali Khan is called ‘The Nawab Of Pataudi’ and also owns the Pataudi Palace which is his ancestral home in Haryana. While many may think that Saif has inherited this ancestral property, it’s far from truth. The palace was converted into a hotel and it was rented to Neemrana Hotels. Saif had once spoken about it in an interview, thus revealed that he has actually bought the Pataudi palace with his hard earned money, despite the fact that it’s something which he should have just inherited.
The ‘Omkara’ actor had said in an interview with Mid-day, a few years ago, “People have a certain fixed notion. For that matter, even Pataudi palace when my father died, it got rented to Neemrana Hotels. Aman Nath and Francis Wacziarg used to run the hotel. Francis passed away. He’d said that if I wanted the palace back, I could let him know. I said: ‘I want it back’. They held a conference, and said, ‘Okay, you have to give us lots of money!’ Which I then consequently earned.”
So, Saif had given Rs 800 crore to get back the Pataudi palace. He had added, “So even the house I’m supposed to have inherited has been earned back through money from films. You can’t live off the past. At least we can’t in our family, because there was nothing. There is history, culture, beautiful photographs, and of course, some land. It has been a privileged upbringing. But there’s been no inheritance.”
According to Architectural Digest, the Pataudi Palace is spread across 10 acres. It has approximately 150 rooms, including seven dressing rooms, seven bedrooms and seven billiard rooms. After Saif’s father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, popularly called Tiger Pataudi passed away, it was leased to Neemrana Hotels and the palace was operated as a luxury property till 2014.
Saif Ali Khan was recently stabbed at his house during an attempt at burglary. But the actor underwent a surgery and is now back home safe and healthy, much to the delight of his fans.
