Saif Ali Khan stabbed: DCP Dixit Gedam reveals the reason why the arrested suspect goes by different aliases |

After the deployment of 30 teams from different departments and relentless hours of manhunt, in the wee hours of Sunday, the Mumbai Police arrested the prime suspect in the case knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The prime facie has been identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad; however, initially, he mentioned his name ‘Vijay Das.’
The Mumbai Police arranged a media briefing, in which DCP Dixit Gedam set the record straight. He highlighted that the accused came from Bangladesh to India through an illegal route and thus, he changed his name. Currently also he prefers to use the same alias as his name.
“Prima facie the accused is a Bangladeshi and after entering India illegally he changed his name. He was using Vijay Das as his current name. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then in the vicinity of Mumbai. The accused used to work in a housekeeping agency,” said Dixit Gedam while addressing the media.

“There is primary evidence to anticipate that the accused is a Bangladeshi. He does not have valid Indian documents. There are some seizures that indicate that he is a Bangladeshi national.” added DCP.
Meanwhile, according to an ANI report, the accused in the matter has confessed to the crime. The details of the same are yet to be revealed.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed 6 times at his residence in Bandra. Reportedly, on January 16, Saif’s Bandra was under an attempted robbery. According to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s statement, which was recorded by the Police on Friday, the intruder was aggressive but he didn’t steam anything. He didn’t even touch the valuables kept in plain sight. This all happened on the 11th floor, and as Saif confronted the perpetrator, the altercation left him with 6 stab wounds. Once the intruder fled the scene, Saif was rushed to the hospital and as we speak, he is recovering from the serious injuries.
