Coldplay‘s frontman Chris Martin left an indelible mark on Indian fans during the band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour in Mumbai. At the first of three back-to-back concerts at DY Patil Stadium, Martin surprised the crowd by speaking fluent Hindi.
In a viral video, Martin greeted the audience with, “Good evening everybody. Aap sabka bohot swagat hai. Mumbai mein aakar humein bohot Khushi ho rahi hai (Welcome everyone. We are very happy to be in Mumbai).” The audience roared with approval as Martin read a fan’s sign aloud, shouting “Jai Shri Ram,” sparking even more excitement.
Coldplay will perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21 before heading to Ahmedabad for shows on January 25 and 26.
Adding to the excitement, Martin’s partner, Hollywood actress Dakota Johnson, accompanied him during his visit. Dakota, along with Bollywood actresses Sonali Bendre and Gayatri Joshi, was spotted at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, dressed in traditional attire. Johnson participated in the temple’s rituals, including the aarti, alongside Martin, who carried a puja thali.
Earlier, the couple also visited the iconic Shri Babulnath Temple, where Dakota followed Indian customs, covering her head and whispering prayers into the ears of Nandi, as per tradition. Sonali and Gayatri joined the couple on both temple visits.
Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson, who have been together since Martin’s divorce from actress Gwyneth Paltrow, have frequently traveled together. Johnson expressed her fondness for accompanying Martin on his tours when she is not filming.
