Charles Dolan Death News: HBO and Cablevision founder Charles Dolan passes away at 98 |

In the tragic turn of events, the entertainment industry has lost an eminent personality. Charles Dolan, the man behind the most prominent US media companies including Home Box Office Inc and Cablevision Systems Corp., breathed his last at the age of 98.
According to the Newsday report, a statement was issued by the late Dolan’s family that he passed away of natural causes.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and patriarch, Charles Dolan, the visionary founder of HBO and Cablevision,” read the statement.
Charles Dolan and his legacy
Charles Dolan has left the mortal world, leaving behind a long legacy etched in golden letters in the history of entertainment. In 1972, he launched the Home Box Office, commonly known as HBO, the following year, in 1973, he founded Cablevision and the American Movie Classics television station in 1984.
In addition to this, he was the man behind establishing News 12 in New York City. According to the Newsday, it was the first 24-hour cable channel for local news in the US.
His business acumen was beyond description. Reportedly, he held controlling stakes in companies that owned Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the New York Knicks, and the New York Rangers.
The legendary broadcasting personality, Charles Dolan is survived by six children, 19 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Helen Ann Dolan, passed away in 2023.
