The International Emmy Awards 2024 in New York saw a touch of Indian glamour on Tuesday as the host of the show, Vir Das stepped up on the red carpet followed by, Aditya Roy Kapur, and the crew of The Night Manager. The event marked a milestone for the Indian comedian and actor, who is set to host the prestigious awards night for the first time.
Speaking to the press before the ceremony, Vir admitted to feeling “nervous but good” about his hosting duties.”We are all underdogs, we tell original stories, and come from similar circumstances. So, try to focus on what we have in common, make fun of America a little bit—that should be the trick, I hope,” he told reporters ahead of the show.
Meanwhile, the team of the series ‘The Night Manager’, including lead actor Aditya Roy Kapur and creator Sandeep Modi, also suited up in style as they hit the red carpet together. Photos of the two posing for photos on the red carpet soon went viral. Fans could not seem to get enough of Aditya in his suave and sophisticated look in a tux and bow-tie which he topped off with a diamond broach.
Aditya, in a previous interview, confirmed his attendance at the award show. He said that the whole crew would attend the gala and that he would also attend as he had a few days off between his shoot. On scoring the nomination, Aditya told Hindustan Times, “It’s great that we were nominated. If we win, it would be like a cherry on top.”
‘The Night Manager’ that is an Indian remake of the British series, is India’s sole entry at the 2024 International Emmy Awards. It is nominated in the prestigious Best Drama Series category. Meanwhile, the original series won three Golden Globe Awards in 2017, one each for Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman. It also bagged two Primetime Emmy Awards in 2016.
