Zahan Kapoor, grandson of legendary actor Shashi Kapoor, is currently receiving acclaim for his role in ‘Black Warrant‘. In a recent interview, he shared that he didn’t realize the extent of his grandfather’s stardom until later in life when he grew up.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Zahan shared fond memories of his grandfather, Shashi Kapoor, describing him simply as “dadaji.” He recalled how Shashi was a constant presence at home, enjoying TV and cricket, and being a fixture at family meals. Zahan emphasized that his memories of Shashi are centered around family moments, such as shared breakfasts and lunches together.
Zahan mentioned that as a child, he didn’t realise his grandfather Shashi Kapoor was a superstar. He found it amusing and considers it a blessing. He recalled a time when he came home and saw Amitabh Bachchan visiting. At the time, he didn’t fully understand the situation; he remembered being surprised and hearing his grandfather say, “Namaste karo,” before telling him, “Haan, theek hai, jao.” Zahan said, “It’s so funny and I really consider that a blessing. I did not know. I remember there was a time when I was young and I had no idea; one day I came home and I think Amitabh Bachchan sir was at home. I remember he was clean-shaven at the time, so it was ’90s and I remember coming in and being like ‘hain’. I didn’t understand it also at the time. Dadaji said, ‘Namaste karo’ and then, ‘Haan, theek hai, jao.'”
