The Saif Ali Khan stabbing case raised many eyebrows. There was a huge pressure on the police as well to find the culprit in the matter and present him in front of the justice system. In the investigation, the police detained a 31-year-old man in Chattishgarh as a suspect. He was interrogated in the matter and was later released clarifying that he had no involvement in the crime. However, his photograph was widely circulated owing to which the man claims he not only lost his respect in society, but his family is being looked down upon, and it has cost him his job and marriage proposals.
During an interaction with NDTV, Akash Kanojia expressed his frustration and said, “Why was my photo made viral? I want justice. I was defamed so much. It is a question of someone’s life. I was not wrong. I had not committed any crime. Then why was my photo made viral? I am not capable of committing such crimes.
He shared that he had been wronged by the police and people who circulated his picture. Akash even stated that he was willing to go to court if his photograph was not brought down by all those who shared it across various online platforms.
He added, “Whatever happened to me should not happen to anyone else. I am a poor man, and that’s why I had to see such days. What if there was a VIP or a millionaire’s son in my place, what would they (police) have done? Such things happened to me today but they should not happen to anyone tomorrow. After such treatment, that dangerous feeling you get is unbearable.”
Recalling the events of the day when he was detained, Akash said he was traveling on the Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Kolkata Shalimar Jnaneshwari Express when he was cornered by the RPF men. They showed him his photograph and asked him to get off the train. He had a lot of questions in his mind but since he knew that the RPF was doing its duty, he agreed to go with them.
“They asked if I was just running away. I asked them why would I run. I told them that if they think I have done something wrong, then they should call the Mumbai cops. As the cops came, I was interrogated. I told them I did not commit the crime,” Akash narrated.
Then Akash asked the cops to take him to Saif Ali Khan to verify that he was not the man behind the crime. He even challenged the police that if Saif would identify him as the culprit he would take all the blame in his name, but would not admit to anything before that.
Thereafter, he was allowed to go home. Though the police cleared his name, Akash said that the brief interrogation and the picture that went viral on various platforms have caused him more damage than one can imagine.
