Dia Mirza has raised alarm over Mumbai’s worsening air quality, urging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take swift and effective action to address the issue.
On Monday, actor and environmental activist Dia Mirza took to Twitter to call on Fadnavis to take immediate action to tackle Mumbai’s worsening air quality. She emphasized that air pollution poses severe health risks, particularly to children.
Tagging the official account of Maharashtra CM, Dia wrote, “Sir, @Dev_Fadnavis, the levels of #AirPollution in Mumbai and Maharashtra is continuing to cause irreversible damage to lungs and health of our children”.
“I appeal to you as a mother to please address this matter with the empathy and urgency of a parent (folded hand emoji),” she added.
Furthermore, Dia shared a map showing AQI levels in different parts of Mumbai along with her message. Her followers agreed with her concerns, calling for everyone to work together to improve the city’s air quality.
Professionally, Mirza has always been a strong advocate for environmental causes. She had a zero-waste wedding with businessman Vaibhav Rekhi, and together they share a son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. Moreover, the actress often uses her Instagram to host educational sessions on environmental issues.
Talking about her work front, Dia made her acting debut with ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ and went on to star in films like ‘Dum’, ‘Tehzeeb’, ‘Parineeta’, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’, ‘Sanju’, ‘Thappad’, and ‘Bheed’.
Most recently, she appeared in Anubhav Sinha’s thriller series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’, which featured a stellar ensemble cast, including Vijay Varma, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swamy, Kumud Mishra, and others.
