In the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case recent reports indicate that the fingerprints collected from his residence do not match those of the arrested suspect, Shariful Islam Shehzad. This development raises questions about the validity of Shariful’s arrest, which took place following a three-day manhunt by the Mumbai Police.
As per a report by Mid-day, the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), none of the fingerprints matched those of Shariful Islam. This revelation was confirmed through a system-generated report sent to the CID Superintendent in Pune. The negative results have led to speculation on social media regarding whether the correct individual has been apprehended.
Shariful was arrested in Thane after police tracked him down using information from his suspected cell phone number. However, it appears that the police team had limited information about the case at that time, as it was initially being handled by another unit. The investigation has now turned its focus back to the fingerprints and other evidence collected at the scene.
According to the report, a total of 19 fingerprint samples were taken from the crime scene at the actor’s residence The CID’s findings indicated that all 10 of Shariful’s fingerprints were tested against those found at Saif’s residence, but none matched. The development raised questions over the arrest of the man who is accused of attacking the ‘Race’ actor.

The Mumbai Police had initially relied on facial recognition technology to identify Shariful as the suspect based on blurry CCTV images. However, discrepancies between his appearance and that of the individual captured in the footage have led to concerns about misidentification. Shariful’s lawyer has publicly stated that his client is not the person seen in the CCTV images, citing differences in physical features.
Saif Ali Khan sustained serious injuries during the attack, including a stab wound near his spine, which required extensive surgery. He is currently recovering after being discharged from Lilavati Hospital.
