Nearly a week has passed since YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, came under fire for a controversial joke on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. What began as a moral outcry has now intensified, involving multiple authorities and legal proceedings.
YouTuber Gaurav Taneja, aka Flying Beast, who had earlier criticized Ranveer’s remarks, now believes things are spiraling out of control. In a video shared on Instagram, Gaurav expressed that while he initially supported the public reaction, he now feels Ranveer is being unfairly targeted.
Gaurav shared, “When this BeerBiceps controversy first started, I thought the youth of this country is still sensible, all of them are not stupid. I believed that when it comes to their tradition and culture, they will fight, which is absolutely right. A lot of wrong things were said on that show, and this shouldn’t have happened.” However, he quickly questioned, “But what is happening now?”
He raised concerns about why past guests and panelists of the show were being summoned by the authorities. He also mentioned Ranveer’s plea in the Supreme Court to club the multiple FIRs filed against him. “Police from so many states have gotten involved now. I just saw that the editor of the show has been taken in. They have summoned past guests on the show. That guy (Ranveer) had to go to the Supreme Court to request that his FIRs be clubbed,” he said.

Gaurav further argued that if authorities are cracking down on offensive content, they should also be questioning Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, as YouTube, which is owned by Google, allows such content on its platform. “I am saying that go and find Sundar Pichai now. When you are putting up videos on YouTube which have filthy language, doesn’t the algorithm get to know? Why aren’t you getting Sundar Pichai? Because you can’t. They can only get the guy who is weak. They can harass him. Insane!”
Calling out the disproportionate response, Gaurav emphasized that punishment should be proportionate to the crime. He claimed that the law is no longer about right versus wrong but about who has the power to harass whom. “Now everyone can see clearly what is happening. This is not the democracy we voted for.”

Following the backlash, Ranveer issued a public apology, and YouTube removed the controversial episode. Samay Raina also deleted all previous episodes of the show and assured full cooperation with the authorities.
