The Malayalam comedy-drama ‘Bromance’, starring Mathew Thomas and Arjun Ashokan, has opened to a decent start at the box office.
Directed by Arun D. Jose and produced by Ashiq Usman, the film collected Rs 70 lakhs on its first day, according to Sacnilk reports.
The film had an overall Malayalam occupancy of 24.41% on its opening day, with morning shows recording 19.67%, afternoon shows at 17.11%, and evening shows seeing a slight rise to 20.48%. Released on February 14, 2025, Bromance has generated interest among young audiences with its fun-filled premise and engaging performances.
The film follows Binto, who embarks on an adventurous journey with his brother Shinto’s friends to find him. As they navigate unexpected twists and thrilling discoveries, the film delivers moments of humor, emotion, and camaraderie.
ETimes gave a 2.5 star rating out of 5 for the Mathew Thomas starrer. Our official review reads, “When young Binto investigates where his brother might have gone, he pieces together a personality that is very different from the good-guy image that Shinto has conveyed to everyone. He is deep in debt and is also considered a red flag by an old girlfriend Aish (Mahima Nambiar). They rope in the help of a hacker (Sangeeth Pratap) and a goon and loan shark Courier Babu (Kalabhavan Shajon) to look for Shinto, and land up back in Coorg. The man-missing is treated in a fun filled manner with the motley crew bringing their personality quirks to the story. However, the story and the jokes don’t work all the time and you are faced with quite a few cringe moments. All the actors have a good chemistry, but the characters are not strongly written and could get a bit annoying, like with Mathew’s peculiar rage issue, which is taken over the top. And the second half seems to stretch endlessly.”
With a strong cast including Mahima Nambiar, Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan, and Kalabhavan Shajohn, ‘Bromance’ is expected to gain momentum over the weekend.
