Amid the whole ‘India’s Got Latent’ row, comedian Samay Raina has deleted all episodes of the show. He mentioned that all the criticism, backlash, and legal troubles were too much to handle and thus, he took the decision. Following this, actor Aly Goni came out in support of Samay. Aly highlighted how Samay was pressurized to remove the entire show because of the ongoing controversy.
“They forced Samay to delete all the episodes of Latent.. not cool.. that 1 episode should have been deleted that’s it.. He has worked hard to make this show successful.. where everyone was praising him few days back now everyone is against him lol kya yaar,” he wrote on X (formerly called Twitter).
Samay Raina who earlier kept his lips sealed amid the controversy, broke his silence on Wednesday with a social media post that read – “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
How it all started..
The latest ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia, famous as BeerBiceps, made a controversial joke. It triggered a public outrage leading to the filing of a formal complaint with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission. The complaint was not just against Ranveer but also had mentions of Samay, Apoorva Mukhija, and the show’s organizers.
Amid growing criticism, Ranveer issued a public apology. He mentioned that comedy is not his forte and it was a lapse of judgment on his part. He apologized and said he would never utilize his platform for such provocative content.
Currently, politicians are also seeking stricter guidelines for content control on social media and other platforms.
