Veteran actor Govind Namdev, who has worked with both the late Rishi Kapoor and his son Ranbir Kapoor, recently shared his thoughts on the differences between the two.
When asked about their acting styles and behavior, Govind told Hindi Rush, “Now, since Chintu ji (Rishi’s nickname) is no more, we can’t talk much about him. I found Ranbir more appealing, more close, zyada samjhdaar bhi laga (found him sensible too).Grace hai, jo hum kai logo mein miss karte hai (He has grace which we miss in many people).”
Govind and Rishi Kapoor collaborated on Prem Granth (1996), directed by Rajiv Kapoor. The film featured a star-studded cast, including Shammi Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Prem Chopra, Reema Lagoo, and Himani Shivpuri. A few years later, they worked together again in Raju Chacha (2000), an action-comedy film directed by Anil Devgan, starring Kajol and Johnny Lever.
Govind also worked with Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), a romantic comedy directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Ramesh Taurani under Tips Industries. The film starred Katrina Kaif and Upen Patel alongside Ranbir.
Throughout his career, Govind has delivered remarkable performances in numerous films such as Saudagar (1991), Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), Virasat (1997), Satya (1998), Sarfarosh and Thakshak (1999), Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Pukar (2000), Lajja (2001), Qayamat (2003), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). More recently, he featured in OMG 2 and Sam Bahadur (2023).
On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Animal alongside Triptii Dimri and Rashmika Mandanna. The actor is set to appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Additionally, he will portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One, slated for release in 2026. The film stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
