Shahid Kapoor‘s much-anticipated action thriller Deva was poised to make a strong start at the box office, however, going by the advanced collections, the film is now looking forward to making a rather slow opening.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Deva has collected an estimated Rs 1.7 crore collection from advance ticket sales. Its gross collections with blocked seats is estimated at Rs 3.29 crore.
Although the film managed to generate buzz online, it recorded an earning of just Rs1.69 crore from advance ticket sales for its 2D Hindi shows and an additional Rs 64,140 from its ICE format screenings.
The film has managed to sell approximately 74,456. It recorded a big boost in numbers thanks to the added shows. While the film had just around 6,486 shows nationwide on Wednesday, Thursday saw the show count rise to 11710.
The top 5 states contributing significantly to the advance sales include Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Ahead of the film’s release, Shahid took to his social media handle on Thusday night to pen an emotional note to his fans. As he looked back at the hard work and dedication that went into making the film, he wrote, “One year of blood, sweat, and tears. 2024 was all DEVA!!! MERA DIL MERI JAAN. MERA KAAM MERI SHIDDAT. MERA ACTING KE LIYE PYAAR. MERI AUDIENCE KE LIYE MOHOBBAT. MERA SAALON KA EXPERIENCE MERA ANDAR KA CREATIVE BACHHA. SAB HAI IS DEVA MEIN… (My heart, my soul. My work, my dedication. My love for acting. My affection for my audience. My years of experience, my inner creative child–everything is in this DEVA). Till today he was mine. From tomorrow he is yours.”
In Deva, Shahid plays a defiant police officer, opposite Pooja Hegde who takes on the role of a journalist. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the film is described as an “action-packed roller-coaster ride full of thrill and drama.”
According to trade buzz the film is expected to pick up its pace at the box office over its debut weekend. The film which marks Shahid’s return to the big screen after almost a year, following his last appearance in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, is expected to generate between Rs 5-10 crore on its opening day at the box office.
