One director who has shown unwavering confidence in Abhishek’s talent is Mani Ratnam. Recalling an unforgettable moment, Abhishek shared an instance from the past when Mani Ratnam reached out to him shortly after completing Yuva. “Are you ready?” the filmmaker asked. When Abhishek curiously responded, “Ready for what?” Mani Ratnam simply said, “For another one.”
According to Bollywood Bubble, expressing his gratitude, Abhishek added, “I was thrilled. I believe Mani Ratnam sees something in me that I don’t recognise in myself. He empowers me so much that by the next project, I’m even better prepared. I consider this a true blessing for us actors.”
Abhishek and Mani Ratnam have collaborated on two successful projects—Yuva (2004) and Guru (2007). Both films received critical acclaim, with Abhishek’s performances standing out and earning him multiple award nominations.
On the work front, Mani Ratnam is gearing up for the release of his next film, Thug Life, featuring Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The teaser of the movie, which was released last year, impressed fans and critics alike. The film is expected to hit theatres on June 5 this year.
