Netflix India’s docuseries, The Roshans, explores the Roshan family’s impact on Bollywood, featuring Hrithik Roshan’s journey to stardom through hard work. Rakesh Roshan denies nepotism claims, emphasizing talent-based casting. Priyanka Chopra praises their inclusivity while acknowledging nepotism challenges in her career.

Netflix India’s new docuseries, The Roshans, gives an inside look into the influential Roshan family, covering music director Roshan Lal Nagrath, his son Rajesh Roshan, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, and actor Hrithik Roshan. Rakesh recently stated that nepotism does not exist in the industry.
In a recent conversation, Rakesh Roshan addressed Priyanka Chopra’s comments from the docuseries, where she praised the Roshan family for giving opportunities to outsiders. He explained that Hrithik’s debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai wasn’t due to nepotism but because of his hard work. Rakesh mentioned that Hrithik assisted him for four years, and after seeing his dedication and acting skills, he decided to launch him. Rakesh emphasised that they always cast the right person for the role, regardless of background.

Rakesh reiterated that Hrithik’s debut was based on his talent, stating that if Hrithik hadn’t had the right qualities, he would never have launched him. He emphasized that actors and actresses are chosen for their capabilities, not for any other reason.

In The Roshans docuseries, Priyanka Chopra praised the family’s inclusive approach, noting how they create opportunities for outsiders like her. She admired how they expand their “table” to benefit others, not just themselves. Priyanka has worked with the Roshans in Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013), both directed by Rakesh Roshan, and starred alongside Hrithik in Agneepath (2012).
Despite praising the Roshans, Priyanka Chopra has previously discussed the challenges of nepotism in her career. On Dax Shepard’s podcast, she mentioned how multi-generational actors often get multiple opportunities, unlike outsiders. She shared her fears when six of her films flopped, as she didn’t have the same support that many Bollywood stars from film families receive.
