As Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni await their March 2026 trial, their legal battle only seems to be getting messier with each side dropping videos, voice notes and screenshots of their messages
Another big leak that went viral online on Tuesday morning was a voice message from actor and director Baldoni to his lead actress. The voice note, reportedly sent in April 2023, was obtained by the Daily Mail, and features the director addressing a creative disagreement. In a heartfelt message, the director even extends a heartfelt apology to the actress and expresses his gratitude for her honesty about feeling ‘overlooked’ during their collaboration.
“Hey, Blake… hopefully, this doesn’t wake you up,” Baldoni says in the voice note he sent at 2 am. “There’s so much I want to say to you, and I hope that we can FaceTime or see each other in person soon… but I’m just going to send you a few thoughts.”
Acknowledging her concerns, Baldoni apologised for his actions, saying, “I want to start with an apology.” Justin went on to add, “I for sure fell short, and you worked really hard on that, and the way you framed it, and how that made you feel… I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that with me. That takes a lot of trust and vulnerability, and I feel really grateful that you feel safe enough to tell me that that’s how you feel and share that with me. I f–ked up.”
He further emphasized his willingness to own up to his mistakes, “One thing you should know about me is that I will admit and apologise when I fail.” He went on to explain, “I’m far from perfect… I’m a very flawed man, as my wife will attest. I’m gonna f–k up. I’m going to say the wrong thing. I’m going to put my foot in my mouth… but I will always apologize and find my way back to centre.”
The message also revealed a personal interaction between the two stars. Baldoni referenced a visit to Lively’s New York City penthouse, where her husband Ryan Reynolds and close friend Taylor Swift were present. According to Baldoni, Swift praised Lively’s script rewrites, while Lively compared herself to the Game of Thrones charater Khaleese and described her husband and BFF as “absolute titans” and ‘dragons’ who fiercely protect her.
“We should all have friends like that, aside from the fact that they are two of the most creative people on the planet,” Baldoni said in the voice note and added, “The three of you guys together, it’s unbelievable. Talk about energy and just a force.”
He then goes on to express optimism about their project and share his admiration for Lively’s work on the reworked script. “The rewrites are really good, and it’s going to make the movie sing like you said,” he says.
The message seemed to have ended on a positive note, with Baldoni thanking Lively for her trust and extending his regards to Reynolds. “It means the world to me that you trust me with your feelings and your thoughts. I can’t wait to spend more time with you,” he concluded.
The release of the voice note comes at a time when Lively’s lawyers filed court documents trying to allegedly issue a gag order against attorney Bryan Freedman, representing Baldoni. Freedman clapped back in a statement saying that the “irony is not lost on anyone that Ms. Lively is so petrified of the truth that she has moved to gag it.”
“All we want is for people to see the actual text messages that directly contradict her allegations, video footage that clearly shows there was no sexual harassment and all the other powerful evidence that directly contradicts any false allegations.”
Thursday, Baldoni attorney Kevin Fritz accused Lively of a publicity campaign that left Baldoni and other defendants the “objects of public scorn and contempt.”
On New Year’s eve, Blake filed a lawsuit in New York against Justin, his production company, and others, alleging sexual harassment and damage to her reputation, while seeking unspecified damages.
Earlier this month, Baldoni responded with his own lawsuit, accusing Lively and her husband, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and extortion, and demanding at least $400 million in damages.
