Maddock Films is riding high on success, with hits like ‘Stree 2’ breaking records and ‘Munjya’ outperforming most 2024 releases. Their golden streak might just extend to Akshay Kumar with the highly anticipated ‘Sky Force.’
Those who’ve had an early glimpse of the film, including this writer, have praised its balanced take on patriotism and Akshay Kumar’s powerful, restrained performance.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh is optimistic, saying, “I expect ‘Sky Force’ to open on a strong note. The buzz around the film is incredible, and the promotional efforts have been spot-on. With a Republic Day release that coincides with a Sunday—a major holiday—the box office is set for a significant boost. Both the trailer and songs have been widely appreciated.”
Producer and trade expert Girish Johar shares similar enthusiasm: “The excitement for ‘Sky Force’ is sky-high. Akshay Kumar, action, and music have been tracking exceptionally well. It’s a big-budget film with impressive scale. I believe it will take a solid start at the box office, and Akshay’s co-star, Veer Pahariya, will have a promising debut with this one.”
Trade expert Atul Mohan adds, “’Sky Force’ should see a massive opening. The momentum is building steadily as the release date approaches.”
Meanwhile, Roshan Singh, a leading exhibitor from Bihar, believes Akshay’s tough phase is behind him. “I have a strong feeling he’ll bounce back with ‘Sky Force.’ Audiences have always loved his patriotic roles, and he excels at them. This film could mark the return of the Akshay Kumar we’ve been waiting for.”
Even veteran filmmaker and actor Manoj Kumar, celebrated for his patriotic films, sees Akshay as the torchbearer of this genre. “I’ve always considered Akshay my successor in portraying patriotism on screen. His recreation of my sequence from ‘Hai Preet Jahan Ki Reet Sada’ in ‘Namaste London’ was heartfelt and authentic. There’s no one like him when it comes to playing the role of a country-loving Indian,” he said.
With ‘Sky Force’ set to release on Republic Day, all eyes are on Akshay Kumar to deliver a blockbuster and reclaim his throne as the king of patriotic cinema. Will this be his triumphant return? Only time will tell!
