Prashant Tamang became a household name in 2007 when he won Indian Idol Season 3, captivating audiences with his soulful voice and humble persona. Born in Darjeeling, Prashant’s journey to stardom is one of resilience and transformation. After the untimely death of his father, he joined the Kolkata Police as a constable to support his family. Despite his job, his love for music remained strong, and he performed with the police orchestra while dreaming of something bigger.
Taking a leap of faith, Prashant auditioned for Indian Idol and won the hearts of millions with his heartfelt performances. His victory was not only a personal milestone but also a moment of immense pride for the Nepali-speaking community. Post his win, he released his debut album Dhanyavad and went on to perform at national and international concerts, including in the United States.
However, Prashant’s talents weren’t limited to music. He transitioned to acting with his debut in the Nepali film Gorkha Paltan (2010), which became a box office success. Over the years, he starred in multiple Nepali films, showcasing his versatility as an artist.
In 2025, Prashant took on a new challenge by stepping into the role of Daniel Lecho in Paatal Lok 2. The crime thriller opens with the murder of a North-Eastern businessman during a high-profile event in Delhi, leading investigators Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) and Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh) to Nagaland. Here, they encounter the menacing Daniel Lecho, portrayed with chilling intensity by Prashant.
