Telugu Cinema is churning out content one after another, and the audience got a glimpse of it, as 3 big films were released in a span of few days, starting with Ram Charan’s Game Changer followed by Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj leading up to Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam.
In the battle of these three films, it is the veteran Venkatesh who is having the last laugh. The film which was released to cash in on the festival of Pongal, crossed Rs 100 crore mark on the 6th day, and on the 7th day, the collection is very much in the vicinity of Ram Charan’s Changer, which has spent over 11 days at the box office.
Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam was released on Tuesday, and it minted Rs 23 crore on its opening day, and followed it up with collection like Rs 20 crore ( Day 2), Rs 17.5 crore ( Day 3 ) , Rs 16 crore ( Day 4) and Rs 17.25 crore ( Day 5) , Rs 19.35 crore ( Day 6) and Rs 8.75 crore ( Day 7) thus taking the first week total of the film to Rs 122.35 crore. On the other hand, the 11 day total of Game Changer is Rs 126.40.
In fact, the film is also enjoying a great run in North America, which has become the biggest market for Telugu cinema outside of India. The film has minted over US $ 2.2 million, and had already entered the profit zone for the distributors on the 5th day itself. In recent times, Sankranthiki Vasthunam has become that one rare film which was acquired at relatively low cost and it has helped everyone involved to earn profit. And it has also become the biggest box office opening for Venkatesh who has been in films for almost 4 decades now.
