Kangana Ranaut starred in, produced, wrote, and directed Emergency, which was finally released in theatres last week after several delays. The biographical political thriller is based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s decision to impose Emergency in 1975.
According to the latest update on Sacnilk.com, Emergency has now earned over Rs 10 crore at the box office.
The report also mentions that Emergency earned Rs 0.93 crore on its fourth day of release, according to early estimates. This is the film’s lowest single-day collection so far. The total collection of the film stands at Rs 11.28 crore. It earned Rs 2.5 crore on its opening day, and saw slight growth on the following days, earning Rs 3.6 crore on the second day and Rs 4.25 crore on the third day.
On its fourth day of release, Emergency saw 6.50 per cent Hindi Occupancy in theatres.
On Monday, Kangana shared a video message on her Instagram, where she thanked fans for their support of the film and also addressed the protests in Canada and Britain over it. She said, “Friends, my film, my thoughts, and my love for the country are all reflected in this film. You watch the film and decide for yourself whether it divides us or brings us together.”
Emergency, co-produced by Zee Studios and Kangana’s Manikarnika Films, is a period political thriller. The film also features Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and others in key roles.
