The news reporting the attack on Saif Ali Khan spread like wildfire. The actor was rushed to hospital late at night on January 16 as he suffered 6 stab wounds while confronting the intruder who broke into his Bandra house. The authorities left no stone unturned in the investigation and after a relentless manhunt, on Sunday the police were able to arrest the key suspect in the matter.
The prime suspect initially said his name was Vijay Das, but as the investigation process proceeded, it was revealed that his actual name was Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir.

Addressing the media on Sunday, DCP Dixit Gedam, shared details about the prime facie.
Identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla, 30, he was arrested from Hiranandani Estate on Ghodbandar Road in neighbouring Thane district.
DCP revealed that the suspect used a different alias as he allegedly is from Bangladesh and entered India illegally. He has been living in Mumbai for a couple of months. He shifted to the neighbouring areas for some time as well.
Further, he is unmarried and used to work at a housekeeping agency. However, he has been unemployed for the past few months.
The police found some certain evidence that ties the suspect to Bangladesh. The DCP further claimed that Mohammad Rohilla doesn’t have any valid Indian documents.
“Prima facie the accused is a Bangladeshi and after entering India illegally he changed his name. He was using Vijay Das as his current name. He came to Mumbai 5-6 months ago. He stayed in Mumbai for a few days and then in the vicinity of Mumbai. The accused used to work in a housekeeping agency,” said Dixit Gedam.
“There is primary evidence to anticipate that the accused is a Bangladeshi. He does not have valid Indian documents. Some seizures indicate that he is a Bangladeshi national.” he mentioned in another statement.
He also added that from the investigation it so far appears that Mohammad Rohilla entered the house with the motive of robbery, but he didn’t know it was Saif Ali Khan’s residence.
