Director and producer Jayamurugan has passed away following a heart attack. He was admitted to a private hospital in Tirupur yesterday (Jan 17) after experiencing a chest pain. Despite the efforts of the medical team, his finslly breathed his last. His untimely demise has sent waves of sorrow through the film industry, leaving his colleagues, friends, and family deeply grieved.

Jayamurugan made a significant mark as a producer when he founded the production house Manithan Cine Arts. His first production, the 1995 film ‘Sindhu Bhath‘, featured Mansoor Ali Khan in the lead role. Following its release, he produced the successful film ‘Purushan Enakku Arasan‘, starring Pandiarajan and Kanaka. Building on these successes, Jayamurugan went on to produce notable films such as ‘Roja Malaré‘, ‘Adada Enna Azhagu‘, and ‘Thee Ivan’.
After establishing himself as a producer, Jayamurugan transitioned into direction with the film ‘Roja Malaré’. This movie featured Murali, Arun Pandian, and Anand Babu in prominent roles and marked his directorial debut. Although Roja Malaré received mixed reviews from critics, it showcased Jayamurugan’s versatility within the industry. Alongside directing, he continued producing films such as ‘Adada Enna Azhagu’ and ‘Thee Ivan’, composing the music for both. Additionally, he produced the film ‘Poonguyile’, which starred Livingston, Udhaya, and Vindhya. Unfortunately, due to release complications, ‘Poonguyile’ was shelved and did not make it to the theaters.
Once a prominent figure in the Tamil film industry, Jayamurugan later stepped away from cinema and chose to live a quieter life with his family in Tirupur. Yesterday, he was rushed to a private hospital after he complained of chest pain. However, despite receiving medical treatment, he succumbed to the heart attack. His body has since been taken to his residence in Thennampalayam, Tiruppur, where it has been placed for people to pay their last respects. According to his family, the final rites are planned for this evening. Jayamurugan’s sudden and unexpected demise has deeply affected the film fraternity and his loved ones, leaving many in a state of mourning.
