Sensitive details of Saif Ali Khan‘s health insurance claim, revealing that the Bollywood actor applied for a claim of Rs 35.95 lakh, have recently been leaked on social media. The leak has raised concerns, with a Mumbai-based cardiac surgeon commenting on the disparities in health insurance coverage for the general public.
Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his Bandra West residence, leaving him with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment. The leak included details of Saif’s health insurance claim, showing that Rs 25 lakh had already been approved by Niva Bupa Health Insurance, while the total claim amount stands at Rs 35.95 lakh.
Dr. Prashant Mishra, a cardiac surgeon in Mumbai, pointed out that such a substantial claim amount would rarely be sanctioned for a common policyholder. He shared that middle-class policyholders often struggle to get approvals for claims beyond Rs 5 lakh for similar treatments.
“For small hospitals and common man, Niva Bupa will not sanction more than Rs 5 lakh for such treatment. All 5 star hospitals are charging exorbitant fees and mediclaim companies are paying also. result – premiums are rising and middle class is suffering,” he wrote.
Niva Bupa Health Insurance, the insurer for Saif Ali Khan, confirmed the claim to Mint, stating that a cashless pre-authorization request had been approved to start the treatment, and once the final bills are submitted, they would be settled according to the policy’s terms and conditions. The company also expressed its concern over the leak, stating, “The recent unfortunate incident with actor Saif Ali Khan is deeply concerning. We wish him a speedy and safe recovery.”
While the leak has sparked debate on social media, neither Saif Ali Khan nor his family have made any public comments regarding the matter.
