Aakash Kanojia, the suspect detained in connection with the stabbing attack on Saif Ali Khan, has been identified and a picture of him has been released. The 32-33-year-old was arrested by the Raipur Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Durg, Chhattisgarh, after Mumbai Police shared a tip about his whereabouts.
The information was received from Assistant Police Inspector Juhu Police Station, Mumbai Police, who alerted RPF authorities that the suspect was traveling by the Jnaneswari Express train. The suspect was apprehended and brought to the Durg RPF post, where Mumbai Police officials confirmed his identity via video call.
RPF IG Munawar Khursheed confirmed to ANI that a Mumbai Police team would arrive in Raipur today to take custody of the suspect for further investigation.
This development follows the violent incident on January 16, 2025, when Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his Bandra residence. The actor sustained multiple injuries, including stab wounds to his thoracic spine, after attempting to intervene in a confrontation between an intruder and his maid. Khan was immediately rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent successful surgery.
Saif is reportedly in stable condition, having been moved from ICU to a regular room. The surgery, which involved the removal of a 2.5-inch blade, was deemed successful, and the actor is out of danger, though medical staff continue to monitor him closely.
Mumbai Police have launched a major investigation, forming 20 teams to gather evidence. Over 30 individuals, including Saif’s staff and residents near his home, have been questioned, and CCTV footage is being examined.
In the meantime, Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, has also recorded her statement with the Bandra Police in connection with the case.
