Priyanka Chopra recently praised Hrithik Roshan and his father, Rakesh Roshan, for their inclusive approach to the film industry in Netflix India’s docuseries ‘The Roshans’. She highlighted how they create opportunities for those outside the film fraternity, stating, “They make their table longer” and do not endorse nepotism.
“They make their table longer. They pull in people like me, who didn’t grow up in the industry, and create opportunities. So that it’s not just them who are benefitting from what they’ve been able to create. I really admire that table doesn’t stay small,” Priyanka shared.
Chopra has worked closely with the Roshans in the popular ‘Krrish’ superhero franchise, where she played the love interest of Hrithik Roshan’s titular character in ‘Krrish’ and ‘Krrish 3’, both directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan under Filmkraft Productions. She also shared the screen with Hrithik in the 2012 revenge thriller ‘Agneepath’, directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
During her 2023 appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Priyanka recalled the struggles faced by outsiders in Bollywood. She noted, “You know they are multi-generational actors that come in and get multiple opportunities versus the ones that come in from outside. You don’t have your uncle making a movie for you just because your last one tanked, right? You have to get it and you have to hustle for it.”
She further said, “It was a concern. I got into production because of that actually. But I was terrified when those six movies didn’t do well because I’m not a nepo baby. I didn’t have that kind of support that exists in a big way in Bollywood movies.”
On the work front, Priyanka has several projects in her upcoming list such as ‘The Bluff’, ‘Heads of State’, ‘Citadel season 2’, and a holiday movie with the Jonas Brothers. She is also rumored to star in SS Rajamouli’s next project alongside Mahesh Babu.
