Wamiqa Gabbi gained attention with her role in Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. After securing a role in Akshay Kumar‘s Bhooth Bangla, recent reports reveal she will also star alongside Ranveer Singh in a superhero film inspired by Shaktimaan.
A report from Mid-Day says Wamiqa is set to join the upcoming superhero film by director Basil Joseph, known for Minnal Murali. The movie, starring Ranveer Singh, is a Bollywood version of the famous Indian superhero Shaktimaan.

A source close to the project told the publication that the actress is gaining attention for her versatile roles in both Hindi and regional films. She is also rumored to be in talks for a Telugu movie alongside Nani.
The source further mentioned that while the film is still in the discussion stage, if it goes ahead, the pairing of Wamiqa and Ranveer in Basil’s movie would bring a new energy to a project that has been in development for five years.
Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, an insider revealed that the film is still in its early stages, with pre-production already started. The source added that despite his limited Hindi skills, director Joseph has been holding readings and meetings with Ranveer in Mumbai.
The report also mentioned that once the script is finalised and the dates are confirmed, everything will be settled. Meanwhile, Ranveer is currently finishing up Aditya Dhar‘s spy film and is expected to focus on the superhero project after March.
Earlier, a report in Pinkvilla revealed that Shaktimaan has been in development for over three years. Directed by Basil Joseph and produced by Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is a major project set to begin shooting in May 2025, with a release planned for 2026.
