Amid the flames sweeping through Los Angeles, CBS has decided to postpone the debut of ‘Hollywood Squares’ reboot from January 9 to January 16, Thursday. The delay button has been pressed due to tonal differences, as the genre of the show wouldn’t be appropriate between all the coverage of California’s chaos. CBS stations which are in and around Los Angeles are continuously taking coverage of the fire, Following the premiere of the show, it will move on to Wednesdays from January 29, following ‘The Price Is Right at Night’, and ‘Raid the Cage’.
‘Hollywood Squares’ is a popular game show, which was first played in 1966 on NBC. It is a game about two contestants who play tic-tac-toe to win cash and prizes. With Nate Burleson, the CBS Mornings co-anchor, hosting the latest version of the series, each square on the board is occupied by a different celebrity, taking the centre square is the popular celebrity and host, Drew Barrymore, who is asked a question by the player, and the contestant must then decide whether the celebrity’s answer is correct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Hollywood Squares’ is the first primetime series to be impacted by the fires. Due to the disaster, the popular late-night talk shows ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, and ‘After Midnight’ had shut down their tapings on Wednesday.
Subsequently, the NBA (The National Basketball Association) has also decided to postpone their Thursday game between the Los Angeles Lakers, and Charlotte Hornets, according to TV Line.
