Yuzvendra Chahal’s personal life is making headlines amid rumours of his separation. Adding to the buzz, an old tweet of his, where he was seen approaching girls, has gone viral.
As trolls targeted Dhanashree, some people dug up old tweets of Yuzvendra and shared them on Reddit. In the tweets, Yuzvendra was seen asking for phone numbers and messaging random women. Some criticised him as part of the issue, but it’s important to note that these tweets are from 2012, before he was married.
Some fans defended Yuzvendra, pointing out that he wasn’t married at the time. They also mentioned that sliding into DMs is harmless as long as the messages aren’t inappropriate or creepy. The user wrote, ‘Sliding into DMs is harmless until the messages are not creepy. I have read and heard stories of many couples who met on social media where one of them slid into the other’s DMs and the rest is a beautiful history. I would still like to give the benefit of doubt to Yuzi since he was single and the possibilities of finding someone in this process but Dhanashree happened. Having said that, should there be any such tweets/messages from Yuzi post marriage, I strongly condemn that.’
On Thursday, Chahal broke his silence on the rumours, sharing a heartfelt note on his Instagram Stories. “I am grateful to all my fans for their unwavering love and support without which, I wouldn’t have come this far. But this journey is far from OVER!!! As there are still many incredible OVERS left to deliver for my country, my team, and for my fans!!! While I am proud to be a sportsman, I am also a Son, a Brother, and a Friend. I understand the curiosity surrounding recent events, particularly about my personal life. However, I have noticed certain social media posts speculating on matters that may or may not be true,” he wrote.
He expressed the toll the rumours have taken on his family, adding, “As a Son, a Brother and a Friend, I humbly request everyone not to indulge in these speculations, as they have caused immense pain to me and my family. My family values have taught me to always wish well for all, strive to achieve success through dedication and hard work, instead of taking shortcuts, and I remain committed to these values.”
Chahal concluded his statement with a message of gratitude and positivity, saying, “With Divine Blessings, I shall forever strive to seek your love & support and not sympathy. Love all.”
