AR Rahman and his wife of 29 years, Saira Banu announced their divorce via a joint statement via their lawyer. This led to a huge shock among fans who seem quite heartbroken with the news. Rahman himself is quite heartbroken as he wrote on X, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. Now, Rahman made his first appearance after the announcement of divorce and he seemed visibly upset. The composer made an appearance at the 55th International Film Festival (IFF) in Goa. He attended the festival for a session on ‘Lata Mangeshkar Memorial Talk: Musical Theatre in India’. While he ignored the paps and the media, he did wave at some fans while getting into his car quickly.
The jointment statement from Rahman and Saira read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira and her husband Mr. AR Rahman have made the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time.
